Frequently Asked Questions
Where does our bamboo come from?
We use MOSO bamboo (also known as Phyllostchys edulis). MOSO bamboo grows in China’s forests and grows at a rate of approximately one metre a day, making it one of the fastest growing bamboos in the world. The toothbrushes are also manufactured in China. The giant Panda does not eat moso bamboo making it an excellent, sustainable choice for our Brush for Change.
How should I care for my Brush for Change toothbrush?
A quick rinse and leave the toothbrush out to dry to keep clean. Bamboo is a natural product and may change in colour as you use it.
How long should I use my Brush for Change toothbrush?
As with all dentists we suggest you change your toothbrush every 3 months, or after illness.
Are the Brush for Change toothbrushes biodegradable?
The handle is biodegradable, so you can compost this part of of the toothbrush. The bristles are not yet biodegradable. Simply shave off the bristles or snap off the head and recycle them the correct way.
What are the bristles made of?
The bristles are made from a BPA FREE polymer (Nylon 6 Blend) resistant to microbial growth during normal use, to ensure safety and durability. We have tried to find a biodegradable bristle but as of this time there is nothing available – apart from boars hair (we did not want to touch animal product). Our toothbrushes are VEGAN FRIENDLY.
Why are the Brush for Change toothbrushes only available in soft bristles?
That’s easy – because every dentist recommends a soft toothbrush. It’s more about the time you take than the muscle you use.
Who do you donate to?
20 % of all our sales go to the Australian Marine Conservation Society – we also donate toothbrushes to worthy causes So far we have donated over 8000 toothbrushes (eg: 500 to Royal Flying Doctor Service – over 1000 to the Australian Bush fires 2019 over 1000 to flood victims – Street vans, Womans refuge and more)
